We come from all round the world and many different types of fish food are used. Both commercial bough products and common veg (Enter the humble cucumber, lettuce etc).
Now I cant remember where I read it but I do remember reading up that different types of food / company products change slightly the amount of pollution in the water.
To give people an example of what I am getting at.
The following I find the following horribly messy.
Cucumber if not removed within 24 hours (12 hours for my old pleco who I swear used to love clogging my filter up by ripping it to shreds).
JMC pellets - Fish go crazy but find them really messy
Tetramin dual wafers
King British stick on treats (Little round food discs you pin to the glass and break up)
Foods I find better
Spirulina based flake food I have a tub of Nutrafin max ones (Great for young algae eaters and everything seems to accept it)
Tetramin complete flakes - Used for years although every fish seems to have its favourites never found to be messy.
Hikari - Algae wafers
Hikari - Catfish wafers
courgette - Or Zuccini in America? - Pretty tough but works well as doesn't break up all round the tank if something has a go at it.
While what you are feeding will depend on what you give has anyone got tips on what foods are really good and don't make a mess? Can anyone suggest alternatives for the above that pollute less?

Re: Fish Food Pro's & Con's
I'm a big fan of Repashy gels. The fish love it and I've never had a problem with mess. I use the soilent green for my veggie lovers and the meat pie for the carnivores.
