Found these two at the lfs today. At first glance they looked like L333 to me and a M/F pair judging by the odontode growth on the larger one. At $17 ea it was a good deal. Now that I have them home I am not so sure. The males head is very sloped and not so high as I would expect. Not really sure what they are now. Anyone got any ideas?
I think L340 is the winner. There is a picture in the catelog of a pair from above that is a dead ringer. And another picture showing the sloping head of the male which was what struck me as unusual.
I got them at Pets N Things in Cudahy. They only had the two. From what I heard from the clerk they were brought in by a customer and they were only identified as "L Number Pleco".
Anywho, It's a species I have never had before so I look forward to working with them and hopefully will get some fry.
Well I dumped the fry out of the cave the other day. There were originally 20 fry but I lost two. The other 18 are doing well and are getting more color and size every day.
I think that 20 fry is an exceptionally large spawn for L340.
I would be curious to see what others have had in terms of fry count with this species.
