How much food do you feed a night

Post by krazyGeoff »

Hi there,
I was making tea (dinner) for the fish and my girlfriend was wondering if I was making an exciting vegetarian dish for tea. Which she thought was strange anyway because I don't really eat anything that is green.
I thought that I would take a photo of what the fish were getting for tea, since it seemed like quite a feast.......

Then I got to wondering..... I wonder how much everyone else feeds their fishy friends..........

Holy cow.....how many fish is that for? I just cut 2 slices of yam for my L190, L200, L128, L226, L226, L052, and L075. I do that or a whole zucchini every other day. The other nights they get wafers, shrimp pellets. regular fish food.

when I had tanks full of BN fry that's what my feeding time looked like!

Now I have one common pl*co, one BN adult male, one chocolate zebra , 2 King Tigers, 2 rubbernoses, 2 clowns, not all in same tank, so my veggie fruit buying has shrunk considerably.

But I recognize that array of feeding stuffs !

My commons fav this month is papaya.

I use an approximate 2 or 3 percent of the estimated body weight per 24 hours. Young fish need more food per unit weight of all the fish and the adults need less.

Hi Larry,
Yes the small rounds top left are for the parents tanks. and the little guys get 1/2 each tank. The LDA33 get the front 2 rows. They are very hungry guys and gals that lot. One for the L239 and the rest to the panaque(s).

I made a mistake of not looking hard enough in one of the tanks, and couldn't figure out why they were not growing. There were an extra 100 fry in there.

Feed twice a day for the little guys, and at night for the adults.

Hi Andywoolloo,
I can't get mine to eat anything else! 'cept wafers. Not good in the winter when zucchine are $12.00 - $13.00 per Kg

Cheers

Canadian is almost at par with US $ now, so it would be $3.50 or so. Normally I can get zucchini here for $.59 to $.79a lb or $1.50 to $2 a kg. It's out of season now so it's all imported and smaller and costlier. Next year, I'm growing my own. :D

Hi DJ, I was going to suggest that you keep a tank of fish that your mum likes, so that you will be able to get more tanks. But after reading about the sushi shop, your mum's favourite fish may be a fish fillet. :-X

I use a combination of swivel clips (from when I used to fish in the sea), and these big (3 inch) plastic coated steel hooks, from the $2 shop. Most of the current points up and then flows down the side of the tank, so dropping it in the right place it basically gets sucked to the bottom of the tank.
Cheers
