ABN's kicking fry out

Post by tomr »

My male ABN was wachting the eggs for about 3 days . Then today he started kicking some fry out of the cave. They are just barely fry. They are really just an egg with a tail right now. I have had them kick out eggs before but never fry.I was lucky enought to catch this and took the fry out.

Did you do anything that may have disturbed him? Is there any other fish in the tank?

there are tons of other fish in the tank. About 12 different plecos. Some cories and some baby S. petricolas.

Do you think that any of them could have disturbed him? Have you done anything that may have disturbed him, like looking into the tank, or shining a torch into the tank to see, or even changed anything to the tank/water while he was in the cave?

This is more common among the first spawn of Ancistrus sp. # than the subsequent spawns unless other factors as those described above take precedence.
