L-333 and?

Post by Alex S »

Hi everybody, Im setting up a tank for a breeding attempt of l-333 but it seems that 3 fish in 160litres (40gal.) is a bit lightly stocked so can you give me some tips of a species that would breed under the same conditions?

Thanks for a great site Alex

hi alex, im try'n to breed 333's also, i dont think their far off. Are you wanting to breed another 2 specie's in the same tank??? the thing is 333's are not exactly small when full grown, and mine kick the crap out of each other everytime they come accross one another. Look in Shane's World for more info and good luck.

Fish that like warmer water and aren't competing for space on the bottom are going to be a much better idea than more bottom dwellers, IMO. This really will be about personal preference. You'd be better served making a list of fish you'd like to try with them and then letting people give you opinions on them, rather than just have them shoot in the dark and hope they hit on something you're interested in, no?

Hej Alex,

I think the point Barbie was trying to make is that the L333 will like to have the floor space to themselves if you want them to be happy and trying to breed them.

If you introduce other pleco's (whether L134 or others) to the L-333, they will compete for floor-space in the tank, and that will make it harder for the L-333 to feel good about themselves...

This is of course particularly bad if they are also mostly nocturnal (night-time feeders). If you have some fish like Microgeophagus, then that's a differnet story, they wouldn't be out feeding at night (very much at least), so wouldn't be "in the way" for the L-333's.

Best of luck (Lycka till).

Hi

I agree with the above.
Although i have L333 sharing a 55gal tank with L134 i will be moving them to seperate breeding tanks once they mature, with the hope of them breeding.
I think it is far better to let the l333 have full reign of the floorspace with no competition from others if you intend to breed them.Let's face it,i know i prefer making out without an audience. :D

Good luck with your efforts & may you be successful.

Thanks for your advice guys ill go with stricyly the l-333s on the bottom at least and perhaps a small schoal of some tetra just to brighten the tank up a little.

Tyckte Mats inte lät helt brittiskt
(Tought Mats didnt sound so brittish).
