Bristle Nose Super Red lying on back

Post by exploreman »

I think that two of the females BN Super Reds may have been fighting yesterday, they were acting a little strange. Today one is lying on its back.
Moved the fish with a net and it swam away. Any reason for them to lay upside down.

My BN sometimes lies on his back directly under a surface - it looks like he was suckered to the surface, relaxed, and fell a very short distance on his back. I'd worry though, if I found him lying on his back without a surface right above him.

Update, pleco was deceased this afternoon. Female super red, had 5 or 6 spawns. In same tank with another female red and a male red and some sub adults. Possibly had been fighting had a mark on her side.

It sounds like yours was injured.
I have a Baryancistrus who has been doing this for years. Used to freak me out.
