Type Locality Rio Branco at Boa Vista, Brazil.
Etymology Leptodoras: From the Greek leptos, meaning slender, and doras, meaning skin (also a word commonly used in forming generic names for doradids); in reference to the shape.

Down Habitat Information
Distribution South America: Branco, Orinoco and Essequibo River basins, forming a ring around the western Guiana Shield. Recently collected from the middle Tapajós, extending the range of this species to the Brazilian Shield.
