Scientific Name Ceratoglanis scleronema  (Bleeker, 1863)
Common Name
Type Locality Krawang, Java, Indonesia.
Synonym(s) Hemisilurus scleronema

Down Species Information
Size 440mm or 17.3" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Differ from the only other congener, C. pachynema, in having more fin-rays, smaller eye, and mature males with membranous extensions only on the front edge of the maxillary barbel.
Sexing Males have membranous extensions to the maxillary barbels and prominent serrations on the posterior edge of the pectoral spine, which females lack.
General Remarks This species is hard to maintain in the home aquarium. It requires vast amounts of swimming room, and experience in the field indicates that it is extremely sensitive to shock, dying very quickly after capture.
