Another little Syno

Post by Caol_ila »

hi!

I picked this fellow up today. Its said to have come in with a batch of "normal" colored Synodontis nigriventris. This one looks more like the "zebra" version to me. Any comments?
It was a bit stressed when i took the pics. Belly is dark with spots on it.

Looks more like a normal nigriventris to me. Why do you think it's the zebra version?

Hi!

I thought it was because it doesnt turn dark. Only on the belly. The white bars remain much like this, only the brown gets stronger.

Could you take a picture of it under normal conditions (i.e. when it's not stressed)?

Doesn't look like a zebra. More like what the Aqualog book calls "marble variant".
I think it's a regular nigriventris.

The guy at the shop said it was the only one looking like this. It wasnt expensive so i think its a nice addition still.

Yes, plain old S. nigriventris without a doubt.

thx again for the opinion.
So is it normal that this one is pale and my other one is almost entirely brown with darker dots? is that just the common variation? I havent introduced this one to the other but when ill do so a picture will show what i mean (hopefully) :)
cheers
