Iden the cory

Post by EDGE »

I bought these (3) cories as C. adolfoi, but I am having my doubts with the much wider blackline.
They are approx 1 1/4" from mouth to tail

C. adolfoi and C. duplicareus are very similar. C. duplicareus is slightly deeper in the body and has a shorter and more rounded snout. The colour patterns of both species do overlap, although it is assumed that C. duplicareus has a broader and more intense black stripe.

The only positive way to separate them is by the pectoral fin spines, C. duplicareus has a serrated posterior edge where as C. adolfoi is smooth; not something that is easily checked in live fish, especially in your LFS.
