Error (no message) when adding a new species to CLOG

Hi Jools,

I was just trying to create a new species entry using the "Add recently or undescribed species" function. The family pull-down menu worked properly, allowing me to pull down and select a family, but after that the function suspends responsiveness. Despite the chosen family being displayed in the window, the Genus pull-down menu is not activated, apparently because it believes I haven't selected a family yet.

Cheers,
Eric

Hi Eric,

These dropdowns are old (like 20 years old) and they are a key part of "stuff not working" in the upgraded environment. I am working on this at present as I need it (dropdowns) for the edit my blog fixes. I had to stop them working as part of getting other things to work and now I can fixe them up. There are a few things like this - supporting parts of the site that if broken, stuff "higher up" that relies on them then fails.

Will post when fixed!

Thanks,

Jools

This is now fixed.

I am beginning to see the end of the background work, and getting into a groove. One thing about this is there are many bugs I've missed over the years. :-) Most of this work is because the bugs were previously undetected and didn't have a severe effect, mostly just inefficiencies, but the environment is less forgiving now hence all the warnings. I find that in fixing the warnings I am actually fixing my own code.

Cheers!

Jools

Glad it's working out that way. As far as providing you an opportunity to fix your own code because of all the errors found by PCF members, I guess you can thank us all later. =))

Cheers, Eric

Sadly, I tried the function and it didn't work. I was able to select family and genus successfully. But after typing the desired specific epithet and pressing the "add new species" (submit) button, I was immediately redirected to the home page, and the new species is not visible in the CLOG list.

FWIW, I was trying to add Pseudopimelodus aff_bufonius and Pseudopimelodus aff_schultzi as CLOG entries.

Cheers, Eric

A single missing full stop, that is now in place and I've checked it works having added the above two entries.

=)) It really does help me prioritise when folks post what is stopping them, one place or another, using the site. But, trust me, I am finding many more! Most of them are really subtle, but wrong is wrong in this game.

Will get more sorted today!

Cheers,

Jools
