Ancistrus cf. leucostictus (A. sp. Rio Nanay) spawned!

I found my first spawn today!

I checked my greenhouse today and found a big dad busy bouncing around in a cave. I dumped the cave and found a messy but somewhat good mass of eggs. Who knows what happened before I found them, but I've moved the remaining eggs to a small container with an airstone and hoping for the best.

Since I believe this is their first spawn, my thoughts are that either dad ate some eggs, or mom laid many empty jelly coats, or the snails ate some eggs.

For background, these adults are wild-caught along the Rio Nanay in Peru by me and by other scientists at the Amazon Research Center for Ornamental Fishes (ARCOF). Here are pictures from their original collection: The ID of these Ancistrus sp. Rio Nanay being Ancistrus cf_leucostictus was made by Junior Chuctaya and a reply from Emanuel Neuhaus (details described here: https://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/vie ... 57#p337057).

Fingers crossed for more!

Cheers, Eric
