Petco's aquarium sale is on. Time to score low-boys

Planning for a fish room some day, I picked up four Aqueon 60 gallon breeders: 48L x 18W x 16H. Regular price $200 USD, sale $100 USD but then -15% for order online, pick up in store. Total $85 USD each (+ tax)! What a bargain! I also grabbed a 15 gallon tank for $24 USD.

The 60s have the same footprint as a standard 75 gallon, but shorter so my arms can reach the bottom of the tank! :))

One day, they will get set up. :YMPRAY:

Cheers, Eric

Erixd- I seem to recall when we met at CatCon that you were taller than I am? I have 2 x 75 and reach the bottom fine on a normal stand but need the step ladder for the in-wall which is higher above the ground.

From the Aqueon site.
60B 48.5" x 18.5" x 18"
75 48.5" x 18.5" x 21.25"

That is a good price though. The 15 on sale is not cheap I remember the $1/gal. days when it would have been $15.

If you are going to use a shelving system... The 60 breeders are the way to go. The few extra inches of saved height is critical. My top (3rd) row is 65" from the ground and I can easily reach the bottom of the third tier tanks. Raise that 3.25" x 3 and the top row rim height would be at just under 75". I am only 76" tall! No way I could care for a tank that high without a ladder.

PetCo locally (Virginia) does the $1 per gallon but only on 40 breeders or smaller. 55, 60, and 75 gallons are marked down for this sale. This is how I got my 75 plus glass lids for $123.

Sorry for not providing metric, but if you use metric you probably don't have PetCo stores.

Hi TTA,

How do you reach the bottom of those tanks at the back side? With a snorkel? I know I struggle. :))

I plan to go 3 tanks high with the 60s. And the Aqueon website is typographically wrong. The 60B is only 16" tall. It's even printed on the cardboard protective box.

Yeah, 15gal tanks are among my favorites. Until now I have only one. It's where I bred my clown plecos and several Ancistrus species. It's a really convenient size and bigger than the 10 for more space. But they're outrageously priced when not on sale.

At my peak I was 65 inches. I am barely over 63 now. Gravity and age have shrunk me. I have one stook with wheels and a smal A-frame step ladder. I usually put the bucket on the top of the ladder when I am vacuuming or when I fill it with tank water to rinse media. So if can make it easier to reach the bottom rear. If i cam not above the tank I cannot see what is on the bottom rear from the front of the tank, though.

Sale is on now. Just got an email.
75 gal $129
60 breeder $99
40 breeder $59

Aquarium prices have sure come down. I paid more than $59 for my first 20 long 30 years ago.

I have 5 tanks in my cart at Petco but no money to pay for them, so I opened a go fund me account that reads, Can you help this dying hobbyist who has only 5yr. to live at the most, Jeanne is a hobbyist and she really, really loves raising catfish, and Jeanne is also a long time Registered Member at the Planet Catfish fish forum where she also struggles to earn an expert title, Jeanne would like to add a few more fish tanks to her fish room to make her final years more enjoyable, so if you can donate, do it in a big way and help keep Jeanne splashing in her fish tanks.

I'm hoping by the end of the week I'll have enough money to not only pay for the 5 tanks but build that fish room that is talked about in my go fund me post.

Jeanne

P.S.Please forgive my humor.
