A store has these in. They sent me a photo of the fish, but I cannot tell which Panaqolus sp.
The fish is supposedly 1.5 to 2". I am guessing this include the tail length. I haven't gone to the store to look at them in person.
Thanks in advance

Hi EDGE,

They could be , but if they are, then they don't appear to be 1.5-2" long. They look more like 0.75" long based on the color pattern. That's what an L397 might look like at around 1 month old. Check out the BLOG reports for images of babies:

I'm curious to hear back from you about their real size if you visit the store and see them in person.

Cheers, Eric

I went to check them out in person. They are approx 1" long (SL). they do have a small hint of orange on them. That is quite young. Is the information correct the L397 can spawn at a year old? They are relatively cheap for 397, I think. cad$ 40

They are a lot cheaper than L134 of slightly larger size. price given to another hobbyist is $80 for a 1.5" L134. not sure if this is (SL) - they are not available to be seen in person. in transit I think

Perhaps, but I think that's not likely. Most of the reports with ages list 1.5 years or more. I know I hatched eggs and raised them, and the youngest of those next generation fish started breeding at 18 months. I think the reports stating less than a year, or even a year, are probably referring to the time after purchase, not the physical age of the fish. I wouldn't put it past a fish at one year old to be capable, but I just don't think it's likely unless they are really well conditioned and in an ideal tank setting.

Good luck!
Eric

They have some tail rot and a bit skinny.

Got out of Quarantine at the store yesterday.
