What kind of level are we talking about (species, genera, or populations of a single species)? Also, what kind of evidence used for the phylogeny (molecular or morphological)?

I am looking for a phylogenetic tree, or even perhaps if someone can give me the full taxon list for a Plecostomus. By Phylogenetic Tree I mean an Ancestral Tree showing where the Plecostomus in particular fits in. Both would be just great, but if anyone can provide either, I would be very happy.

btw, I am looking for it steming pretty much from the Genus Hypostomus.

Some of the stuff here is a bit dated, but not the Siluriformes, they were recently updated.
It's a start anyway.

Try this linkTree of Life

Ooooppp! Unfortunately the Loricariidae are not broken out yet.

You may want to try Jonathan Armbruster's website. That should yield some good references at a minimum.

Or the All Catfish Species Inventory site;

Good Luck,
