air distribution

I need to upgrade my air distribution in the fish room. Now I am using a HiBlow 80 and am thinking about adding an old HiBlow 20. Can I add the second without doing damage to the pumps?

Next question, researching online, I have seen a lot of references to closed loops on air systems. Does that mean the mains need to be in closed circular loop? My current system has 3 'legs' to dead ends, one with a bleed and valve on it.

Any advice or links would be appreciated.

I can't provide answers, but I have a friend running two pumps on the same line (I believe it's a loop), but their pumps are the same size. I don't know if there are risks to running a stronger pump with a significantly weaker one (I infer your older pump has a much lower output). Also, if I recall correctly, loops are preferred to blind ends.

I hope you get helpful advice and share your results.

Good luck,
Eric

I suggest you go to this site, Jehmco, get the phone number and call and talk to John. He is a nice guy, he sells good stuff and his focus is on folks who have a fishroom or more. I am small enough scale that I work with his diaphragm pumps, but he has a complete line of a lot of things you probably use or need.
