Breeding Hoplosternum Littorale catfish

Post by CatfishChris »

I have what I was told are 2 Pairs of H.Littorle, size between 6"-8",kept in a 45 gal long tank, fed live tubiflex worms, bloodworms, pellets,& assorted frozen foods.I know there bubble nest builders, have some LG leafed plants & a plastic lid to build there nests.PH is 6.8-7.0,do reg water changes, but have had no luck,I've had them 8 months+ .Any help would be great. The person who had them before me said they have spawned several times for him.I also have 20 speices of corydoras & 2 speices of Aspidoras I'm working with. Thanks CatfishChris

There is no secret to spawning this fish. Stop the water changes, give them plenty of floating
thash , and feed lots of protein. The male will keep the nest going until the female is ready.

Don't worry about water quality as they don't do as well in clean fresh water, and they spawn
better in water that is not to deep.
