Corydoras schwartzi

Post by philtre »

Hi all,

Was staring at my fishies again when I got curious about something. With regards to schwartzis, they are suppose to have a dorsal blotch right? The recent ones that I have seen in a previous shipments were more or less WITHOT the dorsal blotch but there's slight marking on the last few rays. spotted markings, but no blotch.

My question is ... is the dorsal blotch one of the identifiying criteria for corydoras schwartzis? If majority of the shipment that came in are without dorsal blotch .... what does that say? corydoras sp cf schwartzis?

Curiously yours,
phil

The look like normal C. schwartzi to me. There will always be a certain amount of variation in colour pattern, especially with the so called spotted/blotched species.

Mine don't have blotchy dorsals. One of mine has a definite spotty pattern of lines on his dorsal and the other one has a few light speckles, kind of how yours look. Very cute, indeed! My schwartziis are the most photogenic of my fish. :)
