Synodontis Notatus

Hello,

I just got a one spot synodonits notatus. I was just curious as to why some have different amount of spots. I saw some with 1 dot, some with 2 dots, and some with 3 dots on them. Does it have anything to do with the sex of the fish? Or the age?

No, AFAIK, the spots have nothing to do with sex or age. Just normal genetic variation. Like the size of human noses, say

One more question about my S. Notatus. He is extremely active. He wasn't like that at the pet store. Is it just the new enviroment?

Most likely. Some catfishes are unusually active until they find their favorite hiding place. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I've seen one which had two spots on one side and three on the other. They're sometimes called the Domino catfish. They're more active in daylight than most synos. They also get along fairly well with each other. They're eager feeders and grow very fast.
