In my most recent spawn, I got this rare deformity. I hope it survives.

Hi Ky,
No compta fry yet. No spawns this year yet. Fingers crossed! :-)

That is the very rare Pekoltia pushmepullyou. I believe it was discovered by Dolittle. 8-}

Well, Peckoltia seem to be seasonal spawners, so unlike the many Xingu Hypancistrus, they won't spawn when they are not in season. And you can turn yourself upside down, but they just won't care! I'm having that headache as well... and quite a lot :D

That's my understanding too. The last time they spawned was late August, 2017. So if I'm lucky they'll spawn again in the next month. :YMDAYDREAM: X_X :YMPRAY: :-SS

:(( :(( :(( This afternoon I found my little 2-headed L397 baby dead in its fry basket. I guess we won't get to watch it grow up.

RIP, little "L397squared." :-( FYI, in this case, RIP means "rot in peace" since I let its little carcass going into the parents' tank.

On the positive side, I pulled another 31-32 fry from the latest spawn which hatched today. Dad had started letting fry out of the cave full of yolk, so I intervened. These are in addition to the approximately 90-100 fry from two spawns about two weeks ago.

Update Aug 5th about 9:00am: I found another dad on eggs this morning! That's four spawns in less than a month. \:d/

There have been a few conversations here about losing their caudal peduncle odontodes seasonally. My males do that.

I'm happy to report they've gotten their odontodes back now and they're all loitering in caves. Maybe after a 2 year hiatus, they'll spawn again. :-) :YMPRAY: :YMDAYDREAM: :-SS :-BD

Pictures later.

Cheers, Eric

:-BD look forward to hearing good news!

My L134 males eat A LOT and are all very big and fat. All males and females are in their own caves.
