Hi all.
I have 2 groups of F1 L-134 plecos that I hope to cross. Can You all help me sex them?
B2 is younger than the others and actually comes from a 3rd group of F1's from a different source.
Thanks,
Clay

They don't look very big. What size are they? Peckoltia are not so easy to sex when not fully mature.
Also, only A1 and B1 are in a good angle to see the body shape. More pictures will be needed. Still, it might be too early to sex them.
Comparing their vents might be more helpfull, though I am not sure if they are big enough for that either.

Once sexually mature, males look like this on their back end:
Females do not get this "hair."

Ok, thanks. They are about 3 inches each. The smallest one about 2.5 inches. I will give them another few months and then take some additional pictures.

For some, it's more than just their back ends.

If you get some individual shots from directly above, we can usually tell at a smaller size than the odontodal growth will indicate, as well. They will still have the smaller head, wider abdomen, curved pectoral indicators.

What size are they considered sexually mature?

Size is not always a determining factor for when a fish is sexually mature. Depending on housing conditions, feeding, and other factors, a fish can grow faster or slower or even be stunted to some degree. I've had some breed at the size above, but not often. Not sure on their age, but I do remember that they seemed too young and I wasn't expecting anything at the time.
For the most part, if the lines are still solid like the above B2s, or even just starting to break up like the above A1s, they are too young. But like I've said in the past, the largest hairiest males have not been my best, or most dependable, producers.

Hello fellow plectorians.
I have recently purchased one L134 pleco. I asked for a male but I don't know if I got one. Considering that I asked for a male and female German ram from the same shop and got two males I am leading to think it may be a female. It lives under bog wood and has a crazy tail waving action when clearing the fine gravel from under its body and lies either upside down under the bog wood or on the glass after gravel has been cleared. Could someone please help me sex it?
Thanks

I don't think it is in the condition to be sexed. Needs more food and time.
If anything it does look more like a young male. But that may be just lack of food.
