I was at my elf's last night and they had an unknown hypostomus that was labelled " red devil pleco". It was a creamy brown with black spots and faint orangish red on the edge of the tail. Any ideas? I might go get him today, but would be upset paying 30 usd for what could be something more common than I think. The fish isabout 2.5-3" tl

Do juvie/young weberi have orange/red in there fins? My other thought as of now would be cf. cochliodon.

I think Pterogoblichthys weberi do - it basically depends on what is yellow, and what is red

From 1,4 to 4 cm approxamately

I didn't see that there was a , I ment . Now the first picture, atleast to me, seems to have reddish/orangish fins.

The fish in question did have more of a "humped" back appearance. It's humped appearance reminded me of a royal panaque, but ti clearly wasn't a panaque.

Sounds like it's a group fish.

I went and picked him up yesterday. I got a couple of bad pictures which I will upload this afternoon. I believe him to be a , but the spotting on his side wasn't uniform (and not as heavily spotted as him) and his overall coloration was orangish red yesterday. The spots were black, and in the dorsal fin, the spots were between the rays only. I intend to pull him out to the front tonight and see if I can get better pictures. He is about 2.5" SL and will stcik to the glass and driftwood regularly.
