Post by Cristoffer Forssander »

Hello!

In what river could you find the most colorful "Hemiancistrus" sabaii?

Cheers

There are fish same/similar to from almost every main river in the Guyana Shield and Amazon Basin.

So, yes, there are variants of this fish that are subtly different. I'm afraid I don't know which of these variants is prettier (most likely, also a personal preference) or where it's from.

Of course there is a personal opinion on the most beautiful L75, but they are found in a number of rivers so I was thinking that perhaps there is some kind of over wew of the colorvarietys of their distributions.

I'm sure there may be some "map vs pattern" list/table/description somewhere.

L301 comes from Rupununi, so it's unlikely to turn up in the trade very often. There is a variant from Rio Xingu that, as far as I know, doesn't have any assignation (and technically isn't covered by P. sabaji original description).

So the L-numbers are L075 (Rio Para) and L124 (Rio Orinoco). I suspect most fish sold are not necessarily correctly assigned the correct L-number...

Hi,
mine L75 are also very nice. I think they are originally from the Rio Xingu.

Here is a colorful L124. Im not exactly sure about what river they are from.

I´ve seen anoter L124 that was brown with big spots.

There is also some L75 from Brasil that is more ornage/reedish in their fins...

Female L124 16 cm SL

First post on the forum after many hours of browsing. ;-)

I just bought the L-75 last week and finally got a chance to take a pic.

She's really not letting me see her at all. I had to move a stone to take the picture...after day's of patience, waiting and searching...
That's different from what i read on this forum. Anyone has an idea why?
