Tanganyikan type catfish?

Post by dwstonebraker »

Hi All -
I was at the not so local "Uncle Bills" pet shop in Indianapolis last weekend, and in their chichlid tanks, they had a tanganyikan type catfish. They gave the scientific name, which is to long for me to remember It was two words that and the first letter of the first word was X and the second word began with M - or visa versa I dont remember.

Anyway the clerk said they would get 4 to 6 inches in length and was easily bread *according to the clerk he had had success with them in the past* They were 34.00 each.

They look somewhat like a "pictus cat" - or at least that is the closest thing I can find to it, however I dont think it is a pictus cat, as the info I have read said they are carnivors.

Any help in finding the correct name / info / pictures is much appreciated :)

Thank You Much!
