Hemibagrus variegatus

Post by Silurus »

I was just thumbing through the Aqualog African Catfish Photoatlas, and noticed that the fish labelled as Clarotes sp. "MARBLE" (on pg 40; the one in the right-hand column, not the one in the left) is that of Hemibagrus variegatus (from the Tenasserim region in Myanmar).
A picture of a very rare cat definitely worth putting in the Cat-eLog.

Not surprising, considering that Hemibagrus nemurus was given two separate names in there (as Bagrus docmac and as the other picture of Clarotes sp. "MARBLE") and that Rita rita is identified as Chrysichthys nogrodigitatus.

This is very sad because same has happened with All L-numbers book and with many other aqualog books.Picture and names don`t match.I think the most reliable book of loricariidae will be Wels Atlas 1 and 2(when it is published).

I'm on it. There are probably more like this that we could use. How about the Arius gigas?
