my first pleco

Post by leonsmith »

Hello all just thought i would write a quick post, just bought my second fish for my juwel 450 tank its a rusty pleco anyone own one in their tanks? what you think of them? my one is about 3 years old bought it off my local shop was quite lucky he came in from a regular customer 20 mins before i got there, i liked the look of him asked the shop keeper if he could get them in he said there hard to get hold of, so i exchanged 55 pound and took the fish home. put him in the tank yesterday his gone to the back left hand corner where i have a nice bit of bog wood and a couple of plants, think that might be his corner now. am well happy to get my first plec wo hoo :D

If it's a "true" rusty pleco, then it's a , but I've seen some other similar looking species sometimes sold under this name. It's a pretty fish for it's group - it's part of the Cochliodon group Hypostomus which means that it will chew on wood for food.
