Hypancistrus Growth Rate

I've been very pleasantly surprised by the growth rate from my first Hypancistrus (L333) spawn. Not trying to crow about it, just want to know if this normal. I really thought these grew much slower.

Here's a short video showing a juvie from the first spawn with two fry from a second. About 6 weeks difference in age.

Not all Hypancistrus fry grow very slowly, there are some but just a few species that grows considerable faster...one of them is L333.

There is a "study" not by myself, but by the user "Baron Ätzmolch" in the L-Welse.com-Forum.
He compared growth rates of Ancistrus sp. (3) (as you call it), Hypancistrus zebra and Hypancistrus sp. "L66" that were raised under identical conditions and that were treated identical.
He found (sadly, it´s just a single study) that all three species grew to identical sizes within two months (3cm TL).

This suggests (and I find this fact with the species I spawned, too, though no Hypancistrus among those yet) that initial growth rate depends to a great extend on conditions rather than on species.
Of course, growth rates will deviate at later stages given the different sizes of species.

It is very hard or almost impossible to make that kind of study, there are so many factors that affect the growth rate. We know to little about what is natural food for each of this species, same amount of fry in each tank, the exactly same waterparameters, the same level of oxygen and the same level of nitrogen and carbondioxide. The same size of aquarium and so on...every day must be the same under the whole period of time in all aquariums

Absolutely even if there are differencies between some species is the conditions the most important of all. I have raised quite a lot of fry from many different species under many years and in my breeding room are almost all aquariums treated exactly the same but it's impossible to have exactly the same conditions, if I compare L333 which the question was about is my experience compared with other species for example H. zebra that L333 reach the same size in 4 month that H. zebra does in 6 months and that is only based on experience.
