Bristlenose Diet

Post by Rich2408 »

Finally got 4 small bristlenose and acclimatised to my rift tank. Bang ... next day after introduction my 4' tank which had plenty of algae all over the tank was as clean as a whistle no trace of algae after 12hours anywhere!! . Don't want the little beggars to starve now, what can I feed the on, do they like sliced cucumber or scalded lettuce ?? What else will they eat??[/img]

I have successfully raised many bristlenoses on a fairly standard diet of flake, sinking pellets, bloodword, black worm, glassworm, brine shrimp etc (all in moderation) with a supplement of cooked shelled peas and cucumber. Peas are less messy, and get fully eaten, cucumber needs to be weighted dowm, and removed after a few hours before it disintegrates. They love the veggies, but seem to eat pretty much anything once mature.
Try to feed spread around the tank to stop one becoming a bully and stunting the growth of the others.
