butter cat?

butter cat?

At lfs they have "butter cats". I think they are some type of Schilbe. I think they could be marmoratus because they have a brown mottled pattern. What confuses me is Baensch Atlas 3 picture of marmoratus shows more barbels than these seem to have. Is Baensch's picture a correct ID? Silurus- this store is in Westland, if you're interested PM me and I'll tell you where.

Is Baensch's picture a correct ID?
No. The pic in the Baensch Atlas is that of a <i>Tandanus</i>, not a <i>Schilbe</i>.
This is what <i>S. marmoratus</i> looks like:

But then, <i>Ompok bimaculatus</i> are also sold as butter cats:
