sorubim lima
another question:
i might soon be purchasing some limas and i cant find any decent info on them
(except this site of course!)
i have a 6x18x18 tank, setup as an eartheater biotope. it has excellent filtration and the right water conditions. the fish are all adult size (nonagressive sp.) and the limas im thinking of adding are about 6inches.
would they be suitable for this tank? will they outgrow it?
if so: i also have a 4x2x2 tank housing a siamese tigerfish.
would the limas be suitable for this tank?
and once again i am in australia and the limas cost A-LOT, and i mean a-lot.
so i dont want to make any mistakes buying them...
thanks

The tank is fine lengthwise, but too narrow, as S. lima will reach 12". Six inches of moving room isn't enough.would they be suitable for this tank? will they outgrow it?
The other tank sounds like a better candidate. However, you have to bear in miond that the optimum water conditions for the tigerfish and Sorubim are not exactly similar.

the fish will have to be acclimatize back to that hardness because i'm rescuing them from a tank set-up for african rift lake cichlidae!
