Hillstream loach/pleco compatibility

Post by crazyred »

I have a 5" common pleco in my 30 that is going to be moved to a much larger (70 gal.) tank in January. In the meantime, I'm getting 2 1" hillstream loaches next week sometime that I bid for on aquabid. Will they be okay in the tank with my pleco or will he do something to them? He doesn't bother the other fish (rasboras, cherry barbs, platies, gourami) will the bother these tiny little hillstream loaches?

Hillstream loaches require somewhat different water conditions from those of common plecos. They require cooler water, preferably with a strong current.

I've already cooled the tank down to the same temprature that the breeder has them in (75 degrees) and my tank has two filters and a dual outflow airpump. I'm mainly concerned over territory issues.

I wouldn't expect there to be any. But you can never be sure, since you are mixing fish from two different continents.
