I used to have one a few years back; bought him as a tiny 2" contaminant in a batch of nigrita's; the absence of spots was a give-away.
They're feisty Syno's, not to mention quite obnoxious from time to time.
he got on quite well with the tankinhabitants, but hated the 2 Pseudopimelodus raninus, also in that tank. They had NO chance at all, against him, and that's why I had to give him to someone else. A nice, big Syno however; he got from 2 to 7" within a year and a half or so; and that's not even half grown. They get big, Schall.
What I really liked about him, was the total absence of nocturnal habits!
I got comments from people like; "finally bought a catfish that shows itself, Sid?"

It´s a relief `cause i only got pictures to identify the cat not the living specimen. He told that it was sold to him as S. nigriventris and is nowadays 25 cm long :D

Mika are those pics recent as the fish seems to have cloudy eyes. Water parrameters may need a subtle change to perk them up or it may just be a very old cat.

Synodontis schall has a greyish sheen on the eyes AFAIK, but I may be wrong....

If that fish is 25 cm, it just passed the halfgrown stage  these beasties can reach well beyond 40 cm when mature!
