ID Please. Which Synodontis?

The Euptera are doing great. I dont see much of them until the food goes in. Greedy!

Just wondering if you could give me a few tips on the best diet for these fish please? At the moment I am feeding them Tetra Tabimin (everyday), Hikari Algae wafers (every other day), crushed shelled peas (twice a week), frozen bloodworm (2 - 3 times a week), and whatever flake / micro pellet they happen to have fall down to them. Not sure if they are eating the other veg I put in for the BN?

What do you think? Should I be avoiding any of these foods? I should point out that the food is for the benefit of all the fish but the Eupteras are sampling the full range (I think) . Are there any other foods they might enjoy and keep them in prime condition?

All the foods you are using are fine...the one thing about Synodontis eupterus is they will eat or at least try to eat any and all foods. You could try more of the different frozen foods available I am sure they will like them. As they get older you may find they spend more time with the veggie based foods.

fwiw I AM one iof the Syno/african cats die-hards here; I advise against combing fish like these with small callichthyds like Corydoras or Brochis

with tiny syno's like the true nigriventris, the peaceful flavitaeniatus and the oddball contractus; combinations with small callichthyds are just fine

but I have seen and heard of many occasions that larger syno's damaged and killed small catfishes; one of the worst times was when fully grown Synodontis occelifer tore up the venomenous but small Lophiobagrus spp.

your syno is small, but if it's fed and watered the right way; it will be 6+ inches TL within the year.

usually eupterus is a fairly mellow fish (other similar sized syno's can be real bad mofo's), but it's a gamble, and personally i wouldn't do it.

Mine are about 6 inches and I have started feeding them every other day. I cuold probably do every three days and they'd be ok. I would imagine.

They are not picky eaters. In fact quite the opposite, little gluttons. Mine like all Hikari defrosted frozen: krill, shrimp, spirulina shrimp, mysis shrimp, bloodworm, tubifex, etc

The sinking pellets they like are earthworm sticks, they also like NLS sinking pellets, I give them the Large fish formula, it's 3mm's. Also they get Hikari carnivore pellets, Omega one sinking shrimp pellets, they also like spirulina flakes, cause I give them to the pl*co and they all go after them. They like just about anything. The only veg i see them eat is the New Line frozen herbivore minced that I also give the pl*co in there. But basically they eat anything and everything. Once in a while I give them fresh seafood, mussells or shrimp. Very messy tho.

So looks like im going to have to rethink my plans for the new aquarium. Two of my Brochis are already 3inches and the other two arnt far behind. Im worried that the 125 litre tank they are currently in wont be large enough for them, besides I was hoping to up the numbers to a decentish shoal size. Tricky.
So im looking to re-home either the Euptera or the Brochis. Horrible decision to have to make

I'm moving house in the next couple of weeks so will see how that goes before making a final decision.
