This just out:
Nelson, J. A. 2003. Metabolism of three species of herbivorous loricariid catfishes: influence of size and diet. Journal of Fish Biology 61: 1586-1599.
Wood-eaters do not lower their metabolic rate to compensate for the lower nutrition in their diet. But then, we know that already. 8)
