number of plecos dead...

Post by caril »

i have been keeping these guys for 2-3 months oredi.
3 casualties so far:
L200: lost to powerhead (stupid mistake that i have learnt)
gold nugget: tail and fin rot (nothing i did help the fellow)
mango: starve to death, i think. (whenever i feed the plecos, he is always the one not eating)
any unfortunate experiences from u guys out there???
any prevention???

I dont have any answers for you, but i often read of Loricariidae being killed by powerheads. What happens? I am getting a powerhead for one of my tanks soon and don't want to lose my plecs...

u can stuff sponges at the input of the powerhead to prevent unwanted guests from being suck into it. (thats what i have learnt)
it gets very demoralizing when ur plecos are dead, i feel like giving up the hobby when i have my third casualty.
when i visit the LFS yesterday just to have a look,
i returned home with 5 more plecos for $215...
simply cannot resist the temptation .
