Amazonas Loricariids

Post by Shane »

Some photos of loricariids I took last week while collecting.

This is a common blackwater sp. that I have not identified. This is the largest example I have ever come across. About six inches seems to be the maximum size. They are really cool looking and would make a great aquarium fish, but they are only collected for food and never the aquarium trade.

Another sp. Note this is Joel before the Piranha bite!

The most common sp. encountered.

Glytopterichthys eggs collected by kids. They are a delicacy.

Collecting Farlowella and Hypoptopoma. We also collected various blackwater Corydoras here, some pretty tetras, and Apistogramma.

Maybe the wrong part of the world, but how about L152?

Jools,
Not the same fish, but possibly the correct genus. I should have taken some better photos. Oh well, there is always next trip.
