When I offer food now, she approaches but doesn't take it. I wouldn't worry too much over that, from what you wrote I gather the fish has has a few traumatic experiences in the last few days, just let it recover for a week or so. If it gets real hungry it will come and eat but as I've come to learn...
Are there any peatbogs near where you live, because you can get spectacular wood from those. Just brush it clean and boil it to kill off parasites that may hide in it and you have your foodwood. You can combine it with plastic, just make sure your pl*co's all get some fibre in their bellies for ball...

Hello, I'm not sure I understand what the problem is, you said third partial change of twenty percent but why don't you just stick a gardenhose in your tank and drain it? The fish are secure, plants can usually handle a few minutes(5-10 is no problem, longer is possible for things like Anubias but i...

Hi Steen, I have no experience with feeding potatoes, but I'll try it. Still I'd only scrub them real clean, not peel them. Those pl*co's of mine all have real good teeth and I think it's healthier or rather more natural that they 'd have to use them. It keeps them entertained, something hard to che...

I would love to keep american catfish (or european for that matter), but I'm certain I can't keep them cool enough during the summer. There is also an other concern, they would probably do well in each others ecosystem - americans in europe or vice versa - and we all know the problems that may cause....

Hi all, Steen wrote they are peeled Why would you do that? Zuchini and cucumber peel contains a higher concentration of vitamins AFAIK, your fish might love it too. My Panaque prefers the 'green' zuchini parts to most other fresh veggies I feed him, he always eats that first, he seems less intereste...

Spirulina is used in a variety of foods, both 'pure' and mixed with other( often) more protein containing foodsources. It comes in powder, tablets, discs and flakes. I really would like to know how it is being processed though. Wardley Spirulina discs, for example, contains soy protein concentrate an...

I have some port hoplo's which are by all accounts a very tasty fish. Oh, indeed they are, hoplo's are imported ( usually dried or frozen unfortunately) for just that purpose. Best way to enjoy them seems to roast them, like chestnuts or marshmellows, then you can peel of their armour quite easily....

I have a group of 5 M. iherengi ( at least I bought them as such) and the smallest is about 3,5 cm, the largest about 6,5 cm.They are very variable in their markings but I do believe they are indeed one species. They can get rather bulky especially after an abundant meal, I didn't think Ben's were ve...

I would not recommend it, if it's only for quarantine. Gravel can damage Cory barbs and is a substrate for bacteria. If you are going to use anything, use washed out riversand, it's very fine and has well rounded sand grains so the Corys will not harm themselves. It's cheap too. You can also use san...

Refusing to buy and spreading the word to other fish enthusiasts seems the most effective strategy to show the producers of these enhanced fish that there is no niche in the market for them. I think there are so many beautiful animals in the world, we hardly need to invent more. Protecting animals t...

Is it possible Agamyxis might gorge themselves on fruit and veggies in the wild, just before they migrate upstream.
