Re: Leporacanthicus Triactis L91 – “SPECIAL MEGADRAGON”

Still a few species from different species with odd pattern has been bred and they show great variability...nothing more than 25% on first generation and at best around 35% after a few generation... Also I belive nature has already great variability without the needs of human to creat new variation ...

Re: Leporacanthicus Triactis L91 – “SPECIAL MEGADRAGON”

Like you said they are willing to pay the price, I disagree on the fact we overlook them, a lot of people here want to breed the fish they buy...so inveting in a group of odd looking fish it sure come with a price. Also taking into account is why to invest in such odd pattern fish when you know the ...

Re: Is L 173 a unique specie or hybrid ?

Hi Janne!! This is pretty interesting!! You can see both L262 and L260 in this fish!! That show that hybridation occur in the wild...with fish living in the same spot!! Here it is easy as one has a reticulated pattern and another has dots... Now how would you see a differences if the hybridation occ...

Re: Unknown Hypancistrus sp. - Orinoco basin

Hi! Yes and since LDA 19 and L340 are considered as the same... The pattern of these fish can widely evolutated depending on their mood... I have seen many L340 arriving with this "platinium" colour and after a few weeks once they had settle for a while...they would look like your last set...

Re: Is L 173 a unique specie or hybrid ?

I don't know whom you talking about but is all varieties of Hypancistrus collected by this person in all known locations for Hyapancistrus species in Rio Xingu, Rio Iriri and some smaller tributaries or is it fish bought in a shop? The collection implies collected samples and aquarium specimens No,...

Re: Unknown Hypancistrus sp. - Orinoco basin

Well! From my point of view L340 is just a geographical variation of Hypancistrus debilittera and even if many would disagree, the differences would fit what could be accepted for variation within a species. If you look how much Hypancistrus deblittera can differ in term of colour variation, with so...

Regarding the Hypancistrus "species" in the Rio Xingu, one thing comes into my mind, since they are genetically (mitochondrial) identical Not true, give some time and there will be some articles on this subject. Well like I said before, zebra and inspector seems to be well differentiated,...

They would prefer rather small fit tubes!! I don't know if we can say it is "parental care" but females would not leave the tube on any occasion, except if forced out. Even during food distribution the female would not go out...but the male does Also she would always lay in the tube head f...

Re: Is L 173 a unique specie or hybrid ?

One of the biggest problem with the genus Hypancistrus beside zebra and inspector they all look the same genetically...making them almost impossible to seperate them that way...so imagine if you add "hybrids" (natural or human made) in the mix!!
