I got this guy as an L066, but I'm not sure that's what it is. Most of the pictures I've seen of L066 show a striped dorsal fin, which this fish doesn't have. I forgot to mention those are two different fish. And I just got home and another two are showing the same symptoms. I just found 2 of my L66 dead. I took some pictures to see if anybody has any suggestions as to why they died. There are some red spots on both of them. I tested the water yesterday an it was fine. Cool. The Cat-eLog says it's an uncommon import. Any reasons why it's not imported more often? I think it's a nice looking catfish.

Actually, they are not mine (yet ). A friend brought them in and we were trying to sex them when we thought that maybe the big one was not an L163. How can you tell an L075 from an L163? In some of the pictures in the Cat-eLog they look almost the same.

Could that big one be a female?

The big one on the right looks like a different species. Higher number of smaller dots than all the others.

Can anybody ID this catfish?

The first one is close to 5", if not more, and the other one over 4". Does that help?

I finally moved some of the catfish to the new 40G 'river' tank that I had cycling. This is the L204 resting in front of the powerhead (to the left, out of the picture). There's a pretty strong current and he just really loves it there. Every time I check the tank, he's there, enjoying the flow. Now...

The group I got is still in the temporary tank until the 40G long is cycled and ready for them. This guy likes to rest on top of the big piece of driftwood.

Mats, Thanks for the info. If they are any similar to the sabaji, it looks like the L141 could do ok in a 40G with current. I may just try that and see how they do. I can always put them back in their current tank, even though it's a bit crowded with piebald ancistrus. There's plenty wood in that 40...

Do you have any other info? I haven't been able to find much info specific to this species. Do they come from fast water?

Thanks for the info. I may have to find them a new home in the future. For now, they are just between 2"-3"
