In which case, Chef, Ian has ID'd the top one in this thread: - http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14163 as c.delphax. This fish does not have a brownish colouration. I'm thinking that the difference lies in the dorsal colouring (how it bleeds into the body) or the 'orange' blob on t...

Corydoras delphax or ambiacus/agassizii? Others too!!
Got 2 of this type as a freebie (makes a change for me!!) were sold to the guy as c.punctatus . Typical for all types of corydoras that look similar to this to be labelled under the bracket of punctatus !! Anyway, I'm very confused as to correct ID between delphax and ambiacus . Could someone defini...

Well, fullt adult delphax generally lose their spots and are quite easy to distinguish. Also, male delphax have black on their first soft dorsal ray which is usually elongated further than the main dorsal spine. c. agassizii and ambiacus are very difficult to distinguish because the patterning is so...

I got your book this morning Ian, even signed by you!!! Thanks for sending it so quickly!! The reason why I have questioned some of my initial thoughts are due to the similarities mentioned in the Remarks sections. Btw, the fish to left of centre in picture 1 and the fish in picture 2 are the same f...

These similarities are so tricky!! I'm convinced that 1 and 2 are different. The dorsal spot is in a completely different position. In 2 it is in the same position as for c. trilineatus, in 1 it just about comes into the dorsal from the body. Also, and more obviously, 2 has a heavily reticulated hea...

Several Corydoras confirmation please!!!
Have had all these fish for quite a while and never really known exactly what they are, just educated guesses!! However, buying Ian's ID book from him has inspired to find out once and for all. Can you confirm my initial ID's please? Thanks to Corydoras World for hosting the pictures. They all seem ...

1) Looks like a c.blochi blochi. I have one similar but where the body spots are far more prominent. I'd be interested to see the id on that 2) Definitely elegans group. Again, I have a few similar, labelled as c. sp. 'San Juan' 3) Again, I think elegans group, unsure as to which. Not helpful I know...

Vampire plecs
Aside from L007 L.galaxius, are there any other plecs which exhibit the elongated teeth or is it peculiar to this species? Reason being, my missus' Galaxy Plec died after a battle with my red-tailed plec!! I would like to replace it but can find no L007 around me or on the net. She doesn't mind what...

Corydoras Schwartzi Variante?
Spotted this amongst a batch of melanistius. Is this a variant of c schwartzi or maybe a c. agassizii variant? This fish has extra long barbels!! The best match I've found from the Aqualog catalogue is 'Corydoras sp. "SPOTTED-LINE"' on page 46. Checking Ian's site ... http://www.corydorasw...

Sorry don't know if I'm in the right place for this, but ...
Looking at the Trimar website, I saw c. pronotus for sale. They are not on Ian's CoryCats site and cannot find them anywhere.
What do they looik like?

I'm fairly sure that I have 2 females and one male, the bottom one is smaller and thinner than the other 2. It may be a younger one or a male. The larger ones are around 5cm from snout to caudal penduncle, so a bit of growing yet to do before they're breeding size!! I bought on the basis that I've n...
