I've been back to my lfs and picked up the 2 aeneus-like 'undulatus' remaining (still there 2 weeks after I bought the pictured 'females'). I think they could be the same species as the undulatus/C41, but males. As soon as they've settled in I'll post some pics and we can pick up this thread. Cheers...

In your opinion, were the aeneus look-a-likes actually 'undulatus' or do you think they were in fact aeneus? If they are the same species, I will pop back to the lfs and get the 'aeneus-type' fish - they could be the males!

I forgot to say that they look similar to the C. cf.aff.bifasciatus on P92 of the all Corydoras Aqualog. Does anyone have a pic of a confirmed (living) bifasciatus?
