Thamks, Ian! My leucomelas look nothing like the one in your pic. And most other pics I've seen online for that matter. Just goes to show you can't rely entirely on what the fish shops tell you. It has a rather pointed snout like the agassizii in the pic you posted, same spot patterns, too. O...

i would say 24 cories in a 15G sounds like too many. BUT..... provided you keep the water clean, the nitrates low, and the fish don't harm each other or be harmed, i can't see the problem. lots of fish are used to packing themselves into very small spaces in nature, especially shoaling species like...

Yup, as with so many things in life, there's not one right answer - there's lots of things that work for lots of people under lots of different circumstances. The nice thing here is that, for the most part, folks can discuss their different ideas without it becoming unfriendly. I would add that, wh...

Thanks Jen! Will try your suggestions. Those poor traumatized cories deserve some TLC after all the beating. I do not like patronizing irresponsible petshops :x , but when it comes to cories, I really couldn't help it. So tiny and helpless. It was horrible seeing them being nipped at by botias! :cry...

I have ten pandas in my tank right now and I've had them for almost a year and I've had no problems with them whatsoever. I know people say pandas like cooler temperatures but my water temp average is 28 degrees celsius (We've got tropical weather). Then again, the stock I got were already bred loca...

I have the same dilemma with my six new cory acquisitions. They look like the pics you posted here. Problem is, my shopkeeper told me they're leucomelas! Reading your posts, I'm increasingly convinced my new corys are either agasizii or delphax, hardly leucomelas. I've checked pics of leucomelas on ...

Where I'm from, panda corydoras are very easy to take care of. I have never encountered diseases among them so far. My tank's water temp is 28 degrees celsius on the average although I know they thrive in cooler temperatures. I agree they are very cute and sociable. They are the reason why I got sta...

Yes, there's no doubt that you can stock quite a lot of fish in a tank if you have the right setup, including good filtration. You just have to look at some of the tanks in some fish shops that contain many more fish than you would normally keep at home, simply because the filtration system is much...

Rescued Corys

I purchased three sterba's corydoras from a local petshop mainly because they were being literally eaten up alive in a tank where they kept botias and ompoks. Sterbas here are not cheap- about 5.50 US dollars per fish compared to the relatively cheap panda corydoras (about 1 US dollar)so I had to ba...

I must admit that I haven't been checking nitrate levels yet but I will soon, thanks for the info, Jen. I have a bunch of plants in the tank so i'm banking on that to keep a bit of nitrate at bay. I also do a 25-30% water change every week. And I do feel the one inch per gallon rule is a bit ...

Overstocked cory tank?

I've recently gone into a cory shopping spree and i am afraid that i have overstocked my tank. I've read somewhere that the ideal load of an aquarium is an inch of fish to a gallon of water. I have a fifteen gallon tank and twenty-four cories (3 caudimaculatus, 10 panda, 3 sterbas, 2 schwartzis, 6 a...
