At the very least, your larger plecs will bully the little ones out of caves, or make them wait their turn come feeding time. One other thing you have to think about is your filtration. 9 plecs=a lot of poop. I have 3 (1 L200 and 2 L199) in a 30G 3ft tank, and my L200 is the boss. He is about 5"...

I was actually considering this for my 30G tank. I had a pair of L199s with rummynose tetras and columbian redfin tetras. My tank got ravaged by ich recently, and I lost the rummynoses and a BN. I was worried that my L199s wouldn't pull through, but it looks like they are on the way to full recovery...

What would be a better algae eater?
L-182 or longfin bn? I am leaning towards the L-182, because i like the spotted look, but ultimately, I want an ancistrus to clean my tank.
thanks.
thanks.

L199
I understand that this pleco is a carnivore. Is it an active hunter? Reason I ask is that I have ghost shrimp in my tank, and while I don't have any losses, can I expect some? The L199s, 2 of them, are fairly new in my river tank. I haven't seen them eat yet, but it appears that they are eating the ...

Thank you MatsP for the response. You are probably right about the plant eating. His last tank was a cichlid tank, and he had his food stolen oftentimes. As far as another L species, I have actually narrowed it down to L104 and L199. I noticed a few others have L199 in a river tank, and have success...

River Tank plan
I am planning a small river tank using a 26 gallon (30L X 10W X 15H). I will be using Whitepine's tank as inspiration. I currently have a single L-200 that I would like to make the centerpiece, but from past experiences, he eats plants. What kind of plants can withstand a hungry L-200? Should I just...

My L-204 died last night
I woke up this morning, and saw the fish on top of one of my undergravel jets. As I was reaching down to get it, I was surprised by the warmness of the water. My heater conked out last night, and heated the tank to 95! Fortunately, the rest of my fish--African cichlids and an L-200--are still alive....

My plecos still are not eating the vegetables i put in the tank. Am I supposed to put it in fresh, or slightly boiled? I've been trying broccoli and zucchini, and they don't appear to be touched at all. I leave it in there for a couple of days, then I take it out because it starts to get mushy/messy...

Question regarding veggie/feeding
I have 2 plecos, L-200 and L-204, in my tank for a couple of days already. They are active when the lights go off. So far, they have only eaten the algae wafers that I put in (I saw this), but haven't really touched the veggies. I have tried zucchini, broccoli and lettuce. The lettuce have been graz...
