L134 Leopard frog plecos barely growing

I've had my L134 plecos for about 2 and a half years now, and I'm concerned by the fact that they don't seem to have grown much at all during that time. For some history, in case it is relevant to the issue, I bought them from another hobbyist who had 9 in a tank of unknown size (probably 55 gallon)...

Re: Brazil rides again- and we all suffer....

Just imagine breathing that air in Sao Paulo. It's so strange to me that so many people, including prominent individuals who have repeatedly been told otherwise, just don't believe that climate change is real and/or caused in part by human activity. But with the Amazon, it goes beyond the climate; i...

Haha you seem to be pretty resourceful when it comes to power outages, luckily. Those little L082 are really cute. Love those polka dots.

Breeding L134 and L280 in the same tank?

So I have an opportunity to get some wild adult Micracanthicus vandragti, and would hope to breed them if I get them. I currently have a planted 40-gallon-breeder tank with 6 L134 plecos, currently at 2.5 inches or so in size, which I am growing out and would also like to breed - their only other ta...

Quantity of individuals and species per tank?

I've gotten an itch that only more plecos can satisfy. I currently have a 20 gallon long (30x12x12"), a 40 gallon (36x18x15"), and a 150 gallon (48x24x30" tall) that are all suitable for plecos. The 20 gallon currently has 2 L134 juveniles (with lambchop rasboras as tankmates) and the...

Re: L134: Possible Ich/velvet, tail wagging on every pleco?

Well... one pleco is down. I checked the tank around noon, all 4 alive, though covered in spots and seeming to have trouble sitting still. Left to go to the nearby petsmart to grab some of the super ick cure, came home about 2 hours later, about to put in the first dose of the med, and find one of t...

Re: L134: Possible Ich/velvet, tail wagging on every pleco?

Thanks again for the replies. Today, the heater has been set to 87F. I'm hesitant to raise it even higher because there are also some harlequin rasboras in the tank and I don't know how much warmer they can go. I did pick that species of fish partially because they would be able to thrive in the war...

Re: L134: Possible Ich/velvet, tail wagging on every pleco?

Thanks for the replies. Currently, the temperature in their tank is raised to 86F (was previously 80F), which I did last night after posting. There is no gravel to stir or live plants to remove; the tank is functional but not aesthetically pleasing, haha. I did a 40% water change yesterday and am do...

L134: Possible Ich/velvet, tail wagging on every pleco?

Around 3 days ago, I noticed one of the 4 L134 plecos in my 20gallon-long tank was wiggling its tail constantly. I have read that this is breeding behaviour, but he was just sitting upside-down suctioned to the underside of a rock, rather than being inside an actual cave. The next day, he was sittin...

Re: Buying plecos at smaller sizes (1")?

Thanks for your replies, I think I'll go with the L134. The tank size concern is good to know... I have this 20gallon long already with the equipment, since I used it for some other fish, so I was hoping I could use it for an adult group of plecos and it'd be fine. Well, maybe I should get a 40 bree...

Buying plecos at smaller sizes (1")?

I'm new here and new to plecos. I've been doing lots of research on the fancy types (L134, L46, L260, L066) as my goal is to set up my 20 gallon long tank for breeding a single type of small fancy pleco, such as the ones I just mentioned. Right now, I'm at the stage where I just need pick the pleco ...
