Re: Live tips to save cory eggs

Hi Francios. I can definitely say the shrimp keep the eggs free of fungus. Two spawns of around 40 eggs that were collected only one egg was fungussed out of all of them all as they catch and clean the eggs and the movement of the tumbler doesnt allow them to hold the eggs long enough to damage them...

Oops! I now have a male and a female hypan but I don't think they are the same sp. Need ID on both if poss.

Think I have a pair of hypans I was intending on trying to breed one was the male I got a few weeks ago. Then the female today from the same tank at Maidenhead aquatics they were both labeled as L333 yellow king tigers. I won't attempt to breed now though as I'm almost certain that they are not even...

Help sexing my new L333.

Just picked up this second L333. 10 cms in size total length, suspect maybe a female as is a bit wide in the middle but I'm not 100% certain. One I already have, in second pic, I think is male is caving and showing some slight rear odontode growth. 20160518_162451-1-1-1.jpg 20160423_205607-1.jpg Any...

BAD PLECO!! :))

Just uploaded this video of one of my plecos to you tube. :)) As soon as the algae wafers go in, she then goes around dragging them all back to her hidyhole note how she stops when she realises I'm watching-more like a gulity dog. =))

Re: Spawning Age for adolfoi cory?

My group spawned again this week. The set up that I find really seems to work as did before, is by hanging artificial plants upside-down in very high areas of flow in the corners of the tank where the eggs are laid. Although some possibly wouldn't say it is necessary a significant increase in flow a...

Re: L397s-Lets get them started!

Haven't yet got my adult breeding group of L397s yet but will be in the next week or so. On another note though I used one of the drilled out wooden logs I got off you as I acquired a breeding BN pair. The male being seven inches in size, the only thing big enough for him was one of the logs by time...

BN pair spawning for 4 days now: female has had quite a battering. If no results should I move her?

On Friday it was looking very much like my BN pair were going to spawn overnight. No results found the next day once the male left the cave and I checked and there was no eggs. For four days now they have been faffing about in and around the cave. Although tonight very frantic and it's looking like ...

Re: Spawning Age for adolfoi cory?

What size are they, my males are 2.5 cms total length. Females 3 cm total length. Not entirely sure of the age but I could check with my source. I have a larger group that spawned a couple of weeks ago. Laid around 40 eggs.i found they spawned on glass and plants in high areas of flow after a cool w...

Re: Home-made pleco spawning caves

:d The above cave was put to very good use by my BN pair as I saw them spawning in it last night. Alternative caves were ordered but it became obvious he liked this one so I left him with his drilled out log. This morning he's fanning away.I have attempted to take a peek. But a big seven inch BN is ...

Re: Labeled as jumbo peckolitia. But what am I?

Thanks guys, I think what I will probably need to do is catch her and get some extract measurements and pictures from different angels head shots, ventral veiw shots ect, ect. While I'm doing so is there anything else I can photograph or do that will help in the ID. I think she is definitely a pecko...

Re: Labeled as jumbo peckolitia. But what am I?

That's fine. I'm still looking and asking around on some German pleco Facebook pages. Could even be a new sp. As has been suggested as pecklotia maracuy or acre sp. it's not n the clog. But being German it could be something it's known as in Germany ;). I checked with the shop they didn't know the L...

But the original LFS I got mine from... you never know what you're going to find...as his son goes on pleco collection expeditions in south America. Think he exports them home to his dad at the LFS there's been a few mis/unidentified finds! ;)

Re: Labeled as jumbo peckolitia. But what am I?

The size for peckolitia brevis is much smaller in the clog. My one is 6-7 inches total length. But the second L451 doesn't have a size. So many looking alike I'd like to get a group for breeding, but I don't want to end up with hybrid babies. I might just have to accept it as a 1 off pleco ...but sh...
