Re: Do I have 2 males and 2 females L104?

Nice fishes! I think it looks like two male and two females. :) There's really no need to have one male and two females for getting them to breed. I have exactly like you, 2+2 in a 54 liter tank and they have given me 3 spawns this summer. Just be sure to have plenty of caves in the tank and lots of...

Re: L104 Male?

Wonderful photos! :) But Im not 100 % sure it's a male until I see a photo from above. Male grow lots of odontodes and I dont think it's a visible in those photos. Females are have no odontodes at all and it's very easy to tell them apart. I have 2+2 P.Maccus and they have spawn two times now. A pai...

Re: Some youngsters of L104

Nice photos! :) I've also recently breed this species. Today I found a second clutch of eggs, but I think I might have stressed the male to eat the eggs, not sure yet. Do you have any idea how many days it takes for the eggs to hatch? Now the male is back in cave and fanning...I can just hope he tak...

L-162 breeding

Hi all, Just wanted to say that I have got fry from my L-162's. I was just about to sell away my fishes(two males and two females) when I today saw one fry. After some collecting I found approximately 25 fry. :) The possible father was still in his cave when I had to move him. Maybe he was sitting o...

Thanks for your input Larry. Im into breeding this species and I have now started a new rainperiod. I have 1+2 and the male occupies one cave all the time and one female is just outside. This behaviour started when I began changing water. You talked about a extended rainy season, about 3 months. You...

This one was tricky. :D
The head looks like L-147, but the rest looks like P. Maccus. Im confused, but I would say L-147 if I have to say something.

The size must depends on the size of the fish. My largest L-260 is around 13 cm TL and I dont think could fit in smaller cave.

I first bought a total of 8 small P. Maccus. Now I have sold three males and now I have probably 2 males and 3 females left.

I heard that they will have breed in small bambu-pipes and the female lay about 15-20 eggs. Like Janne said they need a rainy season for breeding.

Im going to try breeding my P.Maccus. I have 1 male 1 female in one tank and 1 male 2 females in another tank.

I think I will have to get a RO-unit to make things happen.

Mats, I think your fish could be a female. But Im not 100 % sure. It's easier to tell from a photo above.
