Re: Pseudacanthicus size for sexual maturity
thanks for the reply. that is what I saw too. If one is looking to get a group in hopes of breeding what is best to acquire. Does one aim for a group of 8 to 10 inches or make a group of 10 inch plus? I was thinking two do two females and one male of each L25 and L600 and maybe some L97 ( I know muc...

Re: L200 green phantom
I had a large group of the hi fins. They were really great fish. Mine ate really well on hikari foods. Initially they loved zucchini but after a while stopped taking veggies all together in favor of pellets. For a bit of time they where with my L14 grow outs and really like shrimp and cut mussel whe...

Info on Rhinelepis strigosa appreciated
I was at the mfk ecc K2 convention over the weekend and I couldn't pass up a gorgeous 12 inch plus Rhinelepis strigosa. I figured this was not a common opportunity. He is a little bit of rough shape but overall looks ok. When I was going over to discuss purchasing him Saturday night I found him on t...

Sex this mango pls
I came across this 8-9 inch mango. Really healthy and really broad. I think it is a female, but not positive. I have two females and really need a male. Please let me know what you think. If its male I will try to go back for it. thanks http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm280/mcharney1/7C9DE32B-6EA...

Re: Syno decorus
AFAIK, as most (all?) riverine synos, decorus are solitary and territorial. Nevertheless, I've had at various times various very diverse and large groups of synos (10-20 kinds) incl. decorus with no territorial aggression problems. 2-3 are, as usual, bad numbers. I thought I read somewhere that thi...

Syno decorus
This is my favorite syno cat. Do these guys do better in a group or individually? I have a lone 4-5 inch one. I do have another random syno in the tank that he doesn't like but don't know if it is because it is not a decorus.

Re: dwarf electric catfish malapterus microstoma
One thing to note about that size on the Cat-eLog. Two feet is the largest specimen ever studied for this species, but this doesn't mean that the fish cannot grow larger. The chances of finding a larger individual decrease for well-studied species (so we become more confident of the maximum sizes),...

Re: dwarf electric catfish malapterus microstoma
Nope two feet is exactly what I wanted to confirm for the dwarf. I really don't want anything larger. Two foot is defintely a large fish, but I can easily house for life (If it reaches three feet I can house that too). Also I enjoy solo tanks. Makes very relativity low maintenance tanks. The cat e-l...

pool filter sand is the way to go. IT is cleaner, heavier and more uniform. That being said every tank I have sand in I regret. It is wreaking havoc on my aquaclears.

Nice tanks for a good solution. If you figure out a way to mount them on the walls to save floor space be sure to tell us your secret. :d Jim lol not sure if I will be mounting them on the wall, but thinking about staking them. The top tank would have the L14s and the bottom tank a large L25 pair. ...

largish tank L14s and L25s
I am being offered a 8ft x 4 ft x 20 inch tank at a really good price, which I am pretty sure I am going to pick up. I want to put most of my pleco collection in this tank. I want to devote a large portion to my L14 collection I have and maybe a L25 pair that I want to pick up. Do you think a 6 x 4 ...

Fascinating observations nandusnandus. Another interesting thing is that Parancistrus have enormous gill openings. The only other loricariids that have these are Pogonopoma and Rhinelepis . From Armbruster's loricariid homepage : In her review of the genus, Rapp Py-Daniel (1989) stated that the onl...
