Hi Yann! Thanks, it looks like the ones in the cat-eLog, but how to tell which one? What's the difference between H. ammophilus and unicolor ? There's no info on either one of those in the cat-eLog, so any idea what am I to expect in size, diet and behaviour, tank temperature etc? My tank is 580 l (...

Sorry, took a while because the guy is really tiny and quick, but here's a pic of the mouth, not an excellent one, but I can hardly get a better one. http://www.sarinakvaario.net/soukka2.jpg And a side-view: http://www.sarinakvaario.net/soukka3.jpg Any help with the ID would be much appreciated! Is this L 11/35/etc?

Hello, I'm looking for an ID for my tiny new friend. This one is a baby, only 7 cm now. To me it looks like Squaliforma cf. emarginata , L 11/35/etc, but is he (or her?)? In most images L 11 has red hue on his fins, but mine doesn't - maybe that's because of him being a juvenile? Bellyside is all wh...

Well L141 is given to attain 25cm long... Hi Yann! Do you have any information or links on that 25 cm length? Most sources I've found say appr. 15 cm and that's actually what I found you've said in a previous message as well (http://www.forum.planetcatfish.com/viewtopic.php?p=9268), so maybe you ha...

These guys grow to 10", so you need a really big one to house two comfortably. Mine was 31,5 cm (about 12,5"). Also they're very active swimmers, even in the open water, not just bottom, so space is needed indeed. I had mine in a 580 litres tank, 200x58x50 cm, but sadly lost her to a tumor.

@sari Sad that your fish died like this but how much did this autopsy costs? Yes, it was extremely painful to lose such an old friend, but in the end the tumor kept growing so I had to put end to her life. Couldn't do it myself (such a big fish!) and also wanted to know for sure what was wrong, so ...

For 12 years I thought I had a multiradiatus. Who, by the way, was always called Mister and then in the "autopsy report" noted as female. So full of surprises after death.

Re: Smb doesnt know what this is...

i think its Liposarcus pardalis... Could somebody help me out on this: I've always wondered when somebody has a "common pleco" and mostly it is being identified as Liposarcus pardalis here. However, where I live (Finland), most commons are said to be Liposarcus multiradiatus. Why's that? ...

Westy,
81 litres is still far too small for a big common pl*co. I'm sure he and the clowns are happier now the tank is bigger, but it's still not enough.

I'm afraid it wouldn't do better in the outdoors pond, I believe the temperature should be above 20° C for these cats.

Ben, could be almost any of your cats that has been digging. All my pl*cos and also the A. pectinifrons do digging. Like Saara said, mostly looks like they're trying to get under something. Sometimes they seem to dig just for the sake of it, and really seem to enjoy doing it. Or maybe they just don'...

I am a Liposarcus owner myself, and feel the same as coelacanth. My L. multiradiatus is only a bit bigger than westy's and about the same age, but I keep him in a 580 litres tank which is 2 metres long and 58 cm wide. He is a very active swimmer, likes to swim the whole "pool length" in th...

My fish's menu sound a lot like Ben's. For greens I give cucumber, zucchini, spinach, peas, salad. Zucchini is the most popular, I give an about 5 cm (2") piece every two or three nights, slice it in half, spear the pieces with a teaspoon so it sinks and the pieces are always gone by morning. I...

Hi Gail, I think Hoov's a Liposarcus, but pardalis or multiradiatus someone else can define that. I have read your story about rescuing Hoov and know exactly how wonderful personality he can have. I have a 10+ years old Liposarcus multiradiatus , who is absolutely adorable. You can check his picture...

König, that sounds like a very strong current for 85 litres, but then again, that's what the zebras like, I guess. In 2028 the flow is adjustable, so if you feel it's too much, you can turn it down a bit. I have two 2028s in my tank and and have nothing but positive comments about them. Very easy to...

Thanks Yann,
obviously I have no idea where he has been collected, as he was sold to me as Cumina Peckoltia... so no use asking that dealer!
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to stick with him being "The Unidentified Pl*co" in the tank, the others I'm pretty sure of.

ID of a pl*co sold as L 247

Hello! I have a pl*co that has been sold to me as L 247, Cumina Peckoltia, but I have been told that it's not that - and it also doesn't look like the one in Aqualog. I have pictures of it on my website, at http://www.sarinakvaario.net/cumina.htm and some more (bellyside and mouth - not very good qu...
