Re: Would Centromochlus orca be an acceptable tank mate for Hypancistrus zebra?
The only tank I could park those two zebras in was a 25 gal. tank which held a pair of discus. Those zebras lived in that tank for close to three years when they were moved in with my F1 zebras when I finally kept some for me. What were the water parameters of that tank, and what did you feed the d...

Or you can meet Jim at the next Catfish Convention in October (Jim's come in the past) outside of Washington DC: http://www.catfishcon.com/ https://www.facebook.com/catfishcon/ Hopefully there are cheap flights from EU; if not, I think Hans Evers is coming (maybe you can sneak in to one of his large...

Re: L236 tank - ammonia issues
I have one canister loaded with only Poret foam and I also use it in some of my hang-ons. Most of the Poret I use is the 20 ppi. But I also have some 30 ppi and the next canister with 3 baskets going into use will have 10 ppi in one and 20 ppi in the other two. I find the Poret cubes to be excellen...

I noticed that my butterfly plecos would change color depending on the background. Maybe some green or dark brown may help with coloration. Or maybe feed with food rich in betacarotines?

Maybe cages for the crypts too. Also maybe some in the taller crypts with long roots can withstand digging?

I’d also keep the tank dark and add extra aeration while you are away.

Re: L129 eating my plants
When I had a sultan l264 it would nibble the stalks of my amazon sword, causing the leaves to float off. I cut a hole on the bottom of a plastic aquarium plant cage-pot and inverted it and put it over the plant to protect the plant and allow the leaves to grow up.

Re: Do you actually find L236 in the wild ???
In the end any fish is worth exactly what you are willing to pay for it. I keep wild altum angels. They cost me between $20 and $30 each. But they are not easy to keep alive, even for me being in the hobby a while. Most folks will not buy them because of this. If one cannot keep a fish alive and th...

try putting rub garlic on the food item, or feed with Thera NLS A+ (which has garlic in it); supposedly garlic is an appetite stimulant

Re: Pleco breeding tank lighting
Apart from serving as very suitable dithers, adding guppies to a breeding tank could also have another advantage. Guppies, breeding all the time, secrete a lot of hormones to the water, which might help other fish getting to breed. Most other dithers don't do this, and those would be better for rai...

If you crush the snails before putting them in the tank, you don't have to worry about them climbing out.
