I'm still not convinced the fish in the original post are Ancistrus sp. Rio Ucayali,
because I think that the possibilities is more.

Re: ancistrus ID please
"What size are your A. punctatus".... male have 16cm, but they are not fish caught in the wild, they would certainly have grown larger.
and I had by rearing fry exactly the same problems as described Ingo Seidel with rearing L182, maybe just a coincidence?

Hi Saul, I've never seen this color L260, are very nice. They are special L260 :D , have a lot yellow color in stripes. My L260 have white stripes. I do not think they are L411. Hi,
you're probably too strait cave, male is like, but for female are dangerous and for eggs is not also ideal.
And better to have separate 1 male individually with 1-2 females, they have quieter and are not so nervous and do not fight together.

in my avatar is L 401 (Hypancistrus sp. L333 "New Alenqer"). Look et his parents and brothers and sisters here:
http://www.hypancistrus.eu/hypancistrus-sp-l401/
There are all normal coloured catfishes. Only once has wide yellow stripes.
He has now just about 6 cm.

Hi, I bought the same fish as yours in Germany as the L 400, I think they look identical. I also bought too L 66. When the fish were small (3cm), went to tell the difference between them. So I put together. Recently I decided to categorize them because they have grown up, but it was difficult. L400 ...

Hi,
I think they're L004 male and female.
My pair of L 004 is lighter and I have some older male because is has stronger spines, but compare the shape of the body, head and fins. I think you bought as well as I do.

Hi, I think you have two pairs. The L199 is quite difficult to identify the sex especially in young fish, according to my experience in shooting (strong light, stres) the males are more lighter, females remain under strong light the darker and more contrast, no strong stress coloration as males.I wat...

they differ significantly in juvenile coloration. There are also differences in body shape, but that is easier to see if you have seen them both in real life. Hi Sandor, this Ancistrus is very mysterious. I bought them 10 years ago as Ancistrus hoplogenys, recently i found article that it isn´t A. ...

Hi,
I think that is A. spec. Rio Ucayali. The spots on the body are very variable.I see any white border on the fins. And orange/brown color on the fins have got usually only young fisches, fisch from Bigger Amundsen is older as fisch in picture from Sunfisch.
